Along with the cleanest air in Europe and outstanding Natural Scenery Lewis offers many world famous archaeological sites.  The Callanish Standing Stones are a magical place to visit at any time of the year as is Dun Carloway Broch, a 2000 year old, dry stone, fortified tower.

Along with the white sandy beaches the Lewis coastline is characterised by dramatic sea cliffs and rocky inlets - providing the perfect habitat for an abundance of wildlife.  Golden Eagles are amongst the many feathered inhabitants of the area surrounding Lochan View Cottage.

The clear turquoise sea and spectacular white sands of Bostadh Beach and its Iron Age Fort are a short drive or a nice cycle ride from Lochan View Cottage.

30 minutes drive from Lochan View Cottage is Stornoway, the largest town in Lewis with various shops, pubs, restaurants, a Golf course, mueseam and many organised events.   The An-lanntair Arts Centre provides year round art exhibitions, music, cinema and theatre.

Visit in July for the traditional and contemporary music of the Hebridean Celtic Festival.

The ferry to Lewis is all part of the holiday and is a chance for you to relax and enjoy the scenery.

Keep an eye out for porpoises, whales, seals, dolphins and sharks which can all be seen in the surrounding waters.

Common Seals are regular visitors to the Harbour.
