Along with the cleanest air in Europe and outstanding Natural Scenery Lewis offers
many world famous archaeological sites. The Callanish Standing Stones are a magical
place to visit at any time of the year as is Dun Carloway Broch, a 2000 year old,
dry stone, fortified tower.
Along with the white sandy beaches the Lewis coastline is characterised by dramatic
sea cliffs and rocky inlets - providing the perfect habitat for an abundance of wildlife.
Golden Eagles are amongst the many feathered inhabitants of the area surrounding
Lochan View Cottage.
The clear turquoise sea and spectacular white sands of Bostadh Beach and its Iron
Age Fort are a short drive or a nice cycle ride from Lochan View Cottage.
30 minutes drive from Lochan View Cottage is Stornoway, the largest town in Lewis
with various shops, pubs, restaurants, a Golf course, mueseam and many organised
events. The An-lanntair Arts Centre provides year round art exhibitions, music,
cinema and theatre.

The ferry to Lewis is all part of the holiday and is a chance for you to relax and
enjoy the scenery.
Keep an eye out for porpoises, whales, seals, dolphins and sharks which can all be
seen in the surrounding waters.
